Since 2014, the cuisine of the 4-star Superior Hotel Alpenhof in Hintertux, Tyrol, has consistently been awarded a toque by Gault Millau.
Affirmation of the philosophy
"For us, this is an extremely pleasing affirmation of the path taken and the philosophy pursued by our business, which brings a lot of joy," says Gabi and Klaus Dengg in unison with their award-winning chef Alexander Hönigsberger. The hotelier family has already been managing the Alpenhof for three generations. And the fourth generation in the shape of sons Klaus, Matthias and Andreas is already contributing significantly to the success story of the hotel institution in the Tux Valley.
Completely rebuilt in 2006, today Alpenhof is the first and only hotel in Hintertux to bear the quality distinction of 4-Star Superior. Just one of numerous distinctions with which the path of the innovative and yet tradition-aware hotelier has been and is being recognised. The distinction "Consciously Tyrol" also highlights the fact that the cuisine is focused heavily on regional products.
Best products from our own farm and from the region
Only the best base products are good enough for award-winning chef Hönigsberger. For instance, our beef and veal come from the hotel's own farm in Obsteig. Farmer's butter and fresh dairy products are provided by Hintertux farmers. Our fruit and vegetables come from the Inntal valley. Our bread and baked goods come from the village bakery. Perfect ingredients for gourmet delights at award-winning level. Of course, base products of the highest quality experience their completion only through the sophisticated and creative art of cooking of maestro Hönigsberger. Hönigsberger knows how to elevate down-to-earth Tyrolean cuisine to an exquisite top level in unmistakable fashion. An independent and surprising line that also regularly impresses the professional and high-calibre testers of Gault Millau.

In 2014, they recognised the culinary creations from the Alpenhof kitchen with a toque for the first time and since then they have affirmed this appraisal.
