The Hintertux Glacier ski resort – skiing all year round
The Hintertux Glacier ski resort provides skiers and snowboarders with endless fun on the pistes from October to May, with snow 100% guaranteed. 60 km of ideally prepared pistes of all difficulty ratings provide plenty of variety for beginners and experienced skiers alike – 21 lift facilities provide a comfortable ascent with no wait times. There are also freeriding descents for deep snow fans, freestyle action at the Hintertux boarding park at 3,200m and the Hintertux Family Park which is perfect for beginners. Numerous mountain lodges and restaurants offer the chance for a cosy refreshment break. The valley station is just one minute from the Hotel Alpenhof.
Skiing in the Zillertal: a superlative treat
Maximum skiing fun awaits guests in the Zillertal 3000 skiing and glacial world. The interconnection of 5 ski resorts means that skiers and snowboarders have access to 199 km of pistes and 66 cable cars and lifts with just one ski pass for a wide range of fun in the snow. At the Hintertux Glacier, skiing is a treat all year round and add to this the 12 km long valley descent, breath-taking views and ‘Harakiri’, Austria’s steepest piste with a gradient of 78%. Numerous ski schools on-site also get beginners going in no time.
Cross-country in the Zillertal
Cross-country skiers will find 12 km of classic trails and 14 km of skating trails in Hintertux in the Zillertal valley from Vorderlanersbach to Madseit – a leisurely or sporty way to glide through the idyllic snowy winter landscapes. The well-prepared cross-country trails are free for guests to use. Professional ski schools in the region offer various cross-country courses and equipment can be hired out or purchased from the numerous sports stores.
Winter walks & snow shoe walks in the Zillertal
A real paradise of winter and snow shoe walking awaits guests around Hintertux: 68 km of cleared and prepared winter footpaths offer a refreshing stroll in a picturesque and natural Alpine setting. There are numerous mountain lodges and restaurants where you can enjoy a leisurely break along the way. You can also take the cable car to the mountain stations and enjoy the dreamy views even if you are not skiing.
The best places to take a break on the Hintertux Glacier
Take a break at an altitude of almost 3,000m: at the Spannagelhaus at 2,531m, guests can enjoy a traditional mountain lodge ambience, plenty of relaxation on the sun terrace, a bar area with an open fireplace and culinary treats in the serviced restaurant. The Spannagelhaus is only open during the winter season. The Tuxer Fernerhaus at 2,660 m is open all year round. Its ‘Wirtshaus am Tuxer Ferner’ restaurant offers a panorama bar, large self-service restaurant and sun terrace with free recliners.
